Borussia Dortmund want Mario Gotze to play in Champions League final but he is still in doubtful status.

The Germany international has been out of action since suffering a thigh injury in the semifinal against Real Madrid at the end of April.

Dortmund are hopeful that he would be fit in time for the much-awaited all-German duel at Wembley Stadium as Gotze returned to full training on Tuesday.

But after an hour of training with his teammates, the 20-year-old attacking midfielder was seen shaking his head, having tweaked his injured muscle.

The club insisted that he was due to leave the session early but he will undergo further scans on Wednesday to see to it whether he can feature on Saturday against newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Gotze played a key role in Dortmund’s advance to the Champions League final, scoring two goals and setting up five others in his 11 European appearances.
