Dortmund exec. director Matthias Sammer revealed Mario Gotze turned down other offers but choose Bayern Munich.
Reports revealed on Tuesday that the Bavarians met the £32-million release clause of the star and is now expected to play for Bayern Munich next season.
Sammer shared with reporters: “You have to be aware that Mario Gotze has had incredible offers from other clubs. Those offers were really mad!”
He went on to share that Bayern intended to keep the move quiet prior to their clash with Barcelona and Dortmund’s meeting with Real Madrid the following day.
“Of course, the publication of this transfer has not been so ideal. We intended to go public with it just after the UEFA Champions League semi-final fixtures.
“We haven’t been in touch with Borussia Dortmund over it. Why should we? Mario Gotze has got a contract release clause and he is making use of it.”
Gotze has scored 16 times in 42 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
