Gary Neville feels the arrogance of Jose Mourinho, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic can help drive Manchester United to their first post-Sir Alex Ferguson Premier League title.

New Old Trafford boss Mourinho made veteran Swede Ibrahimovic one of his first signings this summer and he has now concluded the protracted record signing of French powerhouse Pogba.

According to Neville, all three have a strong and unswerving self-belief – bordering on arrogance – that will ensure his former club once more commands respect in the season ahead.

The former United defender says the club has been missing those types of personalities since Ferguson departed. “They have a manager with personality and stature.

With those three people [Mourinho, Pogba and Ibrahimovic] – and a couple of players who were already there – then there’s an arrogance back in the club and the city,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“There are players wearing that shirt who will stick their chests out – and that’s what Manchester United is all about.”

United are 4.20 to win the Premier League title this season while they are 1.40 to finish in the top four.

Neville was part of a golden generation at the Red Devils, winning every major honour the game had to offer during Ferguson’s trophy-laden tenure at the helm.

He says those Ferguson teams were epitomised by strong personalities on the field of play and that Mourinho has moved to recreate that type of aura about the club.

“In the last three or four years, Manchester United have lacked stature on the pitch, they have lacked arrogance and they have lacked the players who have [what it takes] to be real Manchester United stars,” Neville added.

“In signing Ibrahimovic and Pogba they have players of stature and arrogance – in a good way – and, historically, United have always needed players with big personalities.”
