Premier League-winning manager Claudio Ranieri has signed a contract extension that ties him to Leicester City until 2020.

The affable Italian insists that if Leicester continue to extol the virtues of passion and determination that brought them ultimate glory last season, they can bring even more success to the King Power Stadium.

Ranieri signed a three-year deal with Leicester after replacing Nigel Pearson last summer and then led the Foxes in an unprecedented and remarkable charge to the Premier League title.

The former Chelsea and Juventus manager says that from the moment he met with Leicester’s owners, he knew that some special was possible at the club.

“From the moment I talked to the owners about their vision for Leicester City, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of for a long time,” he told the club’s website. And, according to Ranieri, Leicester remain in the midst of a magical time.

“The energy that exists at this club – from the owners and the staff, to the players and supporters – is something very special. I am very happy and proud that I will be part of it for years to come,” he added.

Leicester may struggle to repeat the heroics of last season’s improbable title win, but Ranieri feels they will enjoy more good times if they remember what got them there in the first place.

“Last season, that spirit and our hard work helped us to achieve something magical,” he added.

“If we can continue to work hard, maintain our passion and continue to fight with all our hearts, I am sure we can continue to be successful together.”

Leicester are 26.00 to win the Premier League this season while they are 6.50 to finish in the top four.
