Arsenal new-boy Gabriel Paulista has told fans that he has arrived at the Emirates to help the club win silverware after completing a move from Villarreal earlier this week.

The 24-year-old is in line to make his first appearance for the Premier League outfit against Aston Villa on Sunday after completing a move for £11.2million.

Gabriel has been a key part of the set-up with the Yellow Submarine and should be match fit if Arsene Wenger is ready to throw him straight in.

The defender, who is comfortable playing at centre-back or as a full-back, admitted that after speaking with his family it seemed like the right decision to link up with the Premier League giants.

Gabriel said: “I had a talk with my family and I told them that it was my dream to play in the Premier League.

“The fans can expect a Gabriel that on the field has a lot of will to be able to help the team win important things.”

Arsenal, who are valued at 21.00 to win the Champions League, were granted a work permit for the Brazilian on Monday and the deal will see Joel Campbell head in the other direction on a loan deal.

Campbell has penned a new long-term contract with Arsenal but will spend the rest of the term in Spain as he looks to continue his development.

The 22-year-old has previously featured in La Liga with Real Betis and will look to help Macelino’s side challenge for a Champions League spot.

The Villarreal boss has confirmed the Costa Rica international will be in the squad for Thursday’s Copa del Rey quarter-final second-leg meeting with Getafe.
