Owen Coyle admits that “anything can happen” after his Blackburn Rovers side were handed a favourable home draw in the FA Cup fourth round.

Blackburn will entertain the winners of a replay between Blackpool and Barnsley in round four at Ewood Park, a game Coyle believes will be eminently winnable.

The Scot pointed out that, short of a home game against one of the Premier League powerhouses, this draw presents his side with an ideal FA Cup scenario.

“Anytime you get a home draw it’s great,” he said. “The fact that it’s the FA Cup – such a prestigious competition – then we’re delighted with that.

“When you get a home tie, you want one of two things. We’d love for the fans one of those big glamour clubs or if it’s not going to be, then you want a tie which you feel that you’ve got a chance of winning.”

Rovers went into the hat on the back of a 2-1 away win over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road and Coyle certainly isn’t viewing the FA Cup as a distraction.

Another success would see Blackburn into the last-16 of the world’s most famous domestic knockout competition and Coyle is not ashamed to dream of a fairytale FA Cup run.

“Hopefully there’ll be some excitement generated through the fans and it’s a chance to progress through to the last-16.

If you’re able to do that, we know that anything can happen because that’s the beauty of the FA Cup,” he added. Blackburn Rovers are 201.00 to win this season’s FA Cup.
