Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has warned his team-mates they cannot afford to overlook Bournemouth when they take on the Cherries on Saturday.

The Toffees will go into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat in the EFL Cup to Norwich but they are still unbeaten in the Premier League.

Ronald Koeman’s men currently sit second in the table after a brilliant start to the campaign but Gueye is refusing to get carried away.

He will be part of the Everton team that travel south for this weekend’s fixture and is refusing to look past Eddie Howe’s men despite the fact they sit 17th in the table.

“Bournemouth are a good team, they should not be under-estimated, it’s important we don’t get over confident,” he told Sky Sports.

“We need to focus on the game and hopefully come away with three points.” The former Aston Villa star has been compared to Chelsea destroyer N’Golo Kante in recent weeks following his dominant displays in the heart of midfield.

His performance against Middlesbrough last time out was described as ‘perfect’ by Koeman but Gueye has played down any links to Kante.

He added: “In the summer I signed here and I am on my own journey. I am very happy to be here, the club have extended a very warm welcome and so have the players.

“I feel pretty good, I am fit, I put a lot of work in during training to be ready for the weekend so it’s going very well. Things are going very well for the club and for me on and off the pitch.

Long may it continue.” Bournemouth are priced at 3.40 to beat Everton with the draw 3.40, while Koeman’s side are available at odds of 2.15.
