Everton boss Ronald Koeman is keen to add “three or four more players” to his squad before the end of the transfer window.

The Toffees have already added the likes of Maarten Stekelenburg, Idrissa Gueye and Ashley Williams to their squad ahead of the new campaign, as they bid to improve on back-to-back bottom-half finishes in the Premier League.

Defender John Stones was allowed to leave the club earlier this week, joining Manchester City for £47.5million, and Koeman admits he wants to add to his squad over the coming weeks.

He said: “I don’t comment on rumours. We have discussions with the board and with Steve Walsh, and we want three or four more players.”

The Merseyside club have been heavily linked with moves for Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie and Sunderland defender Lamine Kone over recent days, but Koeman has refused to be drawn on whether he is interested in signing the duo.

“I don’t talk about rumours, players who are still in contracts with other teams,” he added.

“I speak about players who have signed a contract to Everton and when everything is done, but not about rumours.

I don’t like that from other managers and I don’t do that.”

Everton kick-off the new Premier League season when they host Tottenham at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The Toffees are available at 3.00 to begin the new campaign with a victory while Spurs are on offer at 2.40 and the draw is priced at 3.30.
