Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has called on the squad to remain calm as they head into a hostile atmosphere against Fenerbahce on Thursday night.

The Red Devils will continue their Europa League journey away from home against the Turkish outfit.

United, who are priced at 6.50 to win the Europa League, came out on top with a 4-1 triumph against Fenerbahce last time out, but are likely to find life harder on their travels.

Rojo expects that the home fans will look to do their best to intimidate United and has stressed the importance of remaining cool, as the Red Devils look to get the job done.

United have struggled in Turkey previously, winning on just three of seven trips, although one of those wins was against Thursday’s opponents in 1996.

Rojo said: “It’s definitely an important match. It’s very important for us to go to Turkey and get the three points to help secure our passage to the knockout rounds of the competition.

“We can’t forget that they have the home fans, who bring a lot of support to their team. It’s important that we prepare right, stay calm and hopefully come home with the victory.”

Jose Mourinho’s men have the opportunity to open up a five-point lead over third-placed Fenerbahce if they secure a win in the Group A clash.

Former United hitman Robin van Persie is likely to provide a threat again after scoring for the Turkish club in the clash at Old Trafford.

Rojo believes that he can keep track of the Dutchman and is hopeful of keeping him quiet on the night. He added: “It will be great to go against Robin again.

That goal he scored at Old Trafford went down well with pretty much everybody – the United support were cheering him too. I think I was the only person who wasn’t celebrating!

“But Robin is a great player and, knowing him as we do, we know what his strengths are. We’ll go out there and try to keep a lid on him.”
