Celtic head coach Ronny Deila has vowed to take an attacking approach against visitors Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

The Bhoys head into their Group A clash with the Turkish outfit hoping to build on a promising performance in the 2-2 draw at Ajax in their first group stage game, with Deila positive that he knows the right way to approach the challenge.

He told The Scotsman: “We are at our best when we are offensive and when we are really at it from the first kick of the ball. It’s not my kind of football to hold back and play on the counter the whole game.

“We will not go out deep, wait for them and hope to beat them on a mistake. We want to attack them and cause them problems.”

Celtic are 2.50 to win on home turf, while they can be backed at 12.00 to secure a 2-0 victory.

The visitors to Glasgow will have a couple of players well-known to British football watchers, with former Manchester United duo Nani and Robin van Persie both among the Fener ranks.

And Portuguese forward Nani is well aware of what to expect from the Scottish champions, with his side desperate for a positive result after losing their Group A opener 3-1 to Norwegian side Molde.

He noted: “They have a very strong mentality from the first minute to the last minute, like in England, so we have to be prepared to play for 90 minutes plus a few more on the same level.”

Fenerbahce are currently level on points at the top of the Turkish league with Besiktas, having been beaten 3-2 by their fierce rivals at the weekend.
