Portugal have shown they are prepared to slog it out for Euro 2016 success according to forward Nani.

The Fenerbahce forward felt his side had given an ‘attacking exhibition’ during their 3-3 draw with Hungary in the final group game. Their last-16 clash with Croatia however was a much more turgid affair however, with Ricardo Quaresma scoring the only goal of the game moments before a penalty shootout was required in Lens. According to Nani, Portugal are willing to do whatever is required of them as they bid to finally land a piece of international silverware. “I think we have played good games, like against Hungary, where we gave an attacking exhibition,” he said. “But it’s clear that it can’t always be like that. Our aim is to go as far as possible and if we need to sacrifice playing well in order to get a result, we will do so.” Poland are the quarter-final opponents for Portugal in Marseille on Thursday and Nani has stated that he believes the tournament is now wide open. “There are no favourite teams in this tournament. We know that Poland is a strong side, with experienced players, and we will have to be at our best to go through,” he added. The former Manchester United player has made 100 appearances for his national side but he insists the spirit in the camp is now better than at any stage in his career. “We have shown camaraderie and that we are all rowing in the same direction,” he said. “I can certainly say that for me, this is the best time in the national team for the group that we have. This has been one of the factors that has proved that we are much stronger than before and we are in a good condition to go as far as possible.” Portugal are 2.25 to defeat Poland while they are 8.00 to win Euro 2016.
