West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell and Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford have been drafted into the England squad for the upcoming international double header against Scotland and Spain.
The duo were not initially included in interim boss Gareth Southgate’s squad for the matches, but they have been called up following the withdrawals of Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater and Southampton stopper Fraser Forster.
Left-back Cresswell has never previously been included in a Three Lions squad, but he has been rewarded for some consistent displays since joining West Ham from Ipswich in the summer of 2014.
The 26-year-old has only made three Premier League appearances for the Hammers this season, after injuring his knee during the summer, but he has impressed since his return and is now looking forward to linking up with the national team.
Cresswell told West Ham’s official website: “I am delighted to receive a call-up and it’s a very proud moment for me and my family.
“I just want to enjoy the experience and do my best in training and if I can do that, then I hope I can achieve my dream.
I can’t thank the club enough, particularly the fans who have been different class to me since I arrived.”
Black cats stopper Pickford, who made his debut for the England under-21’s in September 2015, has been called into the senior squad for the second time, after being drafted in to replace the injured Tom Heaton for last month’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.
England will continue their World Cup qualifying campaign against Scotland at Wembley on Friday before turning their attention to a friendly against Spain four days later.
The Three Lions are available at 1.36 to secure a victory on Friday, while Scotland are priced at 10.00 and the draw is on offer at 4.75.
