QPR forward Eduardo Vargas will miss Tuesday night’s relegation showdown at Aston Villa and also the rest of the season with a knee problem.

The Chile international was injured shortly after scoring the opening goal in Rangers’ 4-1 win at West Brom on Saturday which reignited the side’s push for Premier League survival.

However, QPR will have to continue their quest without the 25-year-old who has been on loan from Serie A outfit Napoli this season.

Head coach Chris Ramsey said: “Eduardo got his studs caught in the turf and went down on his knee very awkwardly.
“He tried to stay on, which showed me what he’s all about, but he had to come off.”

QPR will also be without left-back Yun Suk-young for the trip to Villa Park after the South Korea international suffered a knock the head.

Ramsey added: “Yun won’t play, he’s concussed. You’ve got to take precautions with head injuries, so he won’t be in the squad.

“I’m not one to moan about injuries, we’ve got a 25-man squad for a reason and you won’t hear me moaning about who is and who isn’t available.

“Villa have injuries, but they’ve got a good squad. It won’t be easy, regardless of what team they put out.”

Villa, who are 1.75 to score first, will be without Alan Hutton, Ashley Westwood and Scott Sinclair while Tom Cleverley, Aly Cissokho and Kieran Richardson are major doubts.

QPR beat Villa 2-0 at Loftus Road back in October courtesy of a brace from in-form striker Charlie Austin.

Another win for the R’s would see them climb out of the bottom three of the Premier League and push Villa into the relegation zone.
