Edin Dzeko’s agent says the player is happy at Manchester City and denies there has been any contact with Roma over a proposed move to Italy.

Irfan Redzepagic swept aside rumours linking the Bosnia and Herzegovina international with the Serie A club, saying the player does not want to leave the Etihad Stadium.

Dzeko’ international team-mate Miralem Pjanic suggested recently that the striker would go “running” to the Italian capital should Roma make their move – but that claim has now been refuted.

“I was frankly surprised by Pjanic’s comments, unless he knows something that I don’t,” Redzepagic told Italian radio station Rete Sport.

“I have had no contact with Roma, nor am I aware of any talks between the two clubs. It’s not a financial issue, he simply doesn’t want to leave the Citizens.”

Dzeko has been at Manchester City for four years but has so far been unable to make himself a regular starter.

Last season was ultimately a frustrating one for the 29-year-old after he made just a dozen Premier League starts for Manuel Pellegrini’s team as they relinquished their title to Chelsea.

Dzeko scored only six league goals and could find himself nudged further down the pecking order next season when January capture from Swansea Wilfried Bony embarks on his first full season as a Man City player.

With golden boot winner Sergio Aguero assured of his place in the first eleven, Dzeko could find himself surplus to requirements in Manchester.

Man City are 3.75 to win the Premier League crown back from Chelsea next season, while the Blues are 2.50.
