Jose Mourinho has dismissed reports suggesting Diego Costa is unhappy with life in England and would like to leave Chelsea over the summer.

Despite having issues with a hamstring injury, Costa has been a revelation since signing from Atletico Madrid 12 months ago, and his goals helped Chelsea to the Premier League title.

Even so reports in Spain suggested that although Costa was happy with Chelsea, he had not settled in London and would jump at the chance of a return to Atletico if the chance came about.

Mourinho has rejected the claims and says Costa is not happy with the reports he wants to leave.

“He’s the guy responsible for everything good we have in the dressing room,” Mourinho revealed.

“He’s so happy, so funny. He enjoys every minute and is the happiest guy in the dressing room. If this is unhappiness I’m happy with that. He was not happy with the news.”

Mourinho was speaking after watching his Chelsea side defeat Sydney FC 1-0 in Australia on Tuesday night.

Costa played for 40 minutes before being substituted and again Mourinho says his withdrawal was a precaution as he is not yet 100percent fit.

“Diego tried, but we didn’t want to take any risks. I told him to give the fans at least half an hour and he played until the 40th minute. We felt that was enough,” Mourinho added.

Mourinho fielded a strong side, including Eden Hazard and John Terry for the friendly clash, with Loic Remy grabbing the only goal in front of a crowd of 83,598 in Sydney.

Chelsea are 2.38 to win the 2015-16 Premier League title, while Arsenal can be backed at 5.50.
