Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger has refused to deny reports that he could leave the club this summer.

The Dane is hoping to secure more first-team football this season after only starting 16 Premier League matches under Brendan Rodgers last year.

Agger’s chances weren’t helped by a number of injury problems but he has been told he still wanted by the Reds. The 29-year-old injured his ribs, calf and back last term and reports have suggested that Rodgers is losing his patience with the former Brondby man.

Liverpool’s return to the Champions League as well as upcoming FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League campaigns will see Rodgers’ squad stretched but he has made plenty of moves to strengthen this summer.

However, Rodgers is close to signing centre-back Dejan Lovren from Southampton – an arrival which would see Agger’s first-team chances limited once again.

The defender insists he is willing to fight for his place but he has refused to rule out a move this summer.

“Many things can happen in football and I do not want to exclude anything,” he told Danish newspaper BT.

“It is no secret that I had problems last season and I am considering things. How things turned out last season is not acceptable for me.

“I am here now and it is up to me to show the coach that I should play.”

The Reds are well fancied to challenge for the title once again and they are available at odds of 9.50 with Dafabet.
