Manchester United will have to wait 10 days to scan the knee of injured midfielder Daley Blind and determine the full extent of the problem.

Blind, who joined the Red Devils from Ajax in the summer, has settled into life at Old Trafford and been a regular starter for boss Louis van Gaal.

However, the 24-year-old suffered a knee injury in a recent international and was forced off in the Netherlands’ 6-0 thrashing of Latvia on Saturday.

Van Gaal has confirmed he expects the worst but would not be forced into confirming the length of Daley’s possible absence until the medics can further examine the £13million man.

Van Gaal said: “He has a brace on his knee. After 10 days’ rest, he’ll have another scan that will say more about the injury.”

The Dutchman admitted that the worst-case scenario could see Blind missing long term which could force the manager to delve back into the transfer market.

United have not started life too well under Van Gaal and currently sit seventh in the Premier League, one point and place behind Saturday’s opponents, Arsenal.

The new boss has not been helped by a long list of injuries preventing him from picking a consistent starting XI.

The Red Devils can be backed at 3.34 to claim victory at the Emirates with Arsenal available at 2.14 to pick up the win.
