Cristiano Ronaldo has lifted the lid on his future by insisting that he is “happy” at Real Madrid and he has no intentions of leaving “the best club in the world”.

The 30-year-old Portugal international superstar and current World Player of the Year has been consistently linked with a move away from the Bernabeu amid reports that he is unhappy at the club and wants to leave.

The claims intensified following a disappointing campaign for Los Blancos, which they finished without any silverware having lost out to Barcelona in the race for La Liga and Juventus dumped them out of the Champions League at the semi-finals stage.

It resulted in coach Carlo Ancelotti being sacked at the end of last month and Rafael Benitez has subsequently replaced the Italian in the hotseat.

It is the start of a new era in the Spanish capital and Ronaldo has finally broken his silence to the media and confirmed that he wants to remain a part of it.

“I would sincerely like the false reports to stop and to be left a little in peace,” he said in the Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola.

“Reports that I have sought to create conflicts between myself and Real Madrid are absolutely false.

“I am very happy at the best club in the world and very focused and confident of a new season full of successes.”

Real Madrid are 2.38 to win the La Liga title in 2015-16 but reigning champions Barcelona are favourites at 1.67.
