Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes claims the Real Madrid forward will end his career at the Bernabeu and it will be “impossible” for Manchester United to sign him in the future.

The 2014 Fifa Ballon d’Or winner had been rumoured to have been unsettled in Madrid and keen on a return to Manchester where he spent six years between 2003-2009, but Mendes has moved to quash these rumours and emphasize his clients long term commitment to Real.

“Cristiano is very happy at Real Madrid and has always been very happy. He’s going to break all the records with Real Madrid and he’s going to retire here.”

The 29-year-old has a remarkable record in Spain, in 257 appearances for the La Liga giants he has scored a staggering 269 goals including 26 hat-tricks, his latest coming in the weekend victory over Athletic Bilbao. Despite this record Mendes is convinced there is more to come from the twice Champions League winner, believing he can continue to perform to the highest of standards into his 40’s.

“He gets better every time and he’ll continue to get better into his 40s. Along with being the best player, he’s the best athlete in the world. Nobody compares to him. There won’t be anyone like him for the next 500 years.”

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster is 3.20 favourite to finish top of the goal scoring charts in the Champions League for the third consecutive season, with Madrid themselves 4.50 joint favourites to retain the trophy for an 11th time, something that Mendes believes is high on Ronaldo’s priorities.

“Cristiano’s dream is to win another Champions League. His dreams are always short term. He is never satisfied and he always wants more.”
