Martin Jol looks set to be given time to turn things around at Fulham following a disappointing start to the Premier League season.

Jol is under pressure at Craven Cottage and is among the favourites to be the next top-flight manager to lose his job following a poor run of results.

Fulham have picked up just two wins in their opening seven games to leave them on seven points and just above the relegation places.

Despite the poor run, Fulham owner Shahid Khan, who only purchased the club over the summer, is ready to keep faith in the Dutchman – for now at least.

“Martin is a very experienced coach,” he said. “He’s a good guy. We’ve gotten off to a start nobody’s happy with, whether you’re a fan or you’re Martin.

“We want to do better but I’m not the kind of person who’s going to act on impulse.

“You go through life and learn valuable lessons. I want Fulham to be very successful. You can’t go out of the frying pan and into the fire. That’s the most important thing.

“Relegation is a horrible thought but you’ve got to keep in mind it’s only seven games. You can’t jump to conclusions.”

Fulham beat Stoke 1-0 at Craven Cottage in their last game and now face a massive showdown with Crystal Palace, who are second-bottom, at Selhurst Park.
