Manchester City duo Jack Rodwell and Stevan Jovetic both could return from injury when they take on West Ham United in the second-leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final on Tuesday.

The pair have struggled all season with niggling injuries, but they are thought to be close to a return. City go into the tie with a 6-0 lead, and the game could be a good opportunity to reintroduce the duo to first-team action.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is likely to take the opportunity to rest a number of key players with the Premier League title race and Champions League returning in the next few weeks. One confirmed absentee is Samir Nasri, the former Arsenal man has still not recovered from his knee injury he picked up in the game against Newcastle United.

The likes of Edin Dzeko, Alvaro Negredo, Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure could all be rested. Jovetic has only made five appearances since his £22million move from Fiorentina in the summer and Pellegrini admits he will wait until the last minute to make his decision.

He told the Manchester Evening News: “We will see how he works. On Monday we will decide. I will think about that. We have to play there. The semi-final is not finished.

“Of course we have made an important step but we must see which players will play and the way we will do it.”

City are 1.43 to win the Capital One Cup, and they are also 2.130 to win on a -1.5 handicap.
