Pep Guardiola insists he will continue to push forward with his methods as he still believes they are the best way for Manchester City to succeed.

The Spaniard made a flying start to life in England, winning his opening 10 games in all competitions, but has seen his side drop off in recent weeks, failing to take victory in any of their last four outings in all competitions.

City’s 4-0 Champions League loss to his former club Barcelona on Wednesday brought plenty of criticism, despite his side being well and truly in the match for long periods at Camp Nou.

Sunday will see them try and put things right when they take on in-form Southampton, a game they are 1.44 to win, with the draw 4.33 and the Saints 7.50.

Despite their blip, the Citizens remain the 2.00 favourites to win the Premier League title and Guardiola is likely to stick to his guns in his bid to guide them to domestic glory.

After being questioned by the press in his Friday press conference, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss refused to bow to calls to alter his style, as the 45-year-old believes his record speaks for itself.

“No, no, I’m not going to change,” he told reporters. “First, it’s going to happen that if it’s not going well in the future, next season isn’t going well in that way, I will go home.

“I won 21 titles in seven years. So it’s three titles per year playing in that way. “The way we want to play, the way the academy play for a long time, is the way I think is good because, I’m sorry, in the past it was going well until two weeks or three weeks ago.”
