Christian Eriksen insists that Tottenham are “not afraid” of taking on Chelsea in the Capital One Cup final after securing their progression on Wednesday night.

Tottenham, who are priced at 17.00 to win the Europa League this season, were made to work hard by the League One outfit over two legs but Eriksen’s double at Bramall Lane paved their way to Wembley.

Spurs edged to a 3-2 aggregate victory but had to rely on a goal from the Dane with 88 minutes on the clock to avoid extra time.

The Blades were beaten 1-0 a week ago at White Hart Lane but put on a much stronger showing on their own patch in the return.

Substitute Che Adams, who is only 18, came off the bench to net twice on the night, but that wasn’t enough to find a way past Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Eriksen, who has now scored decisive goals in the 87th minute or later on four occasions this season, admitted that he was delighted to have helped the team secure a repeat of the 2008 League Cup final.

The north London club beat Chelsea 2-1 on that occasion and the 22-year-old insists that there is no reason to fear the Blues, who they beat 5-2 earlier this term.

Eriksen said: “We are not afraid.

“We will go there with no fear and it will be a good show. It means a lot to get to Wembley, we are all really excited.

“The first goal, a free-kick, was one of the better ones I have scored. It was a bit surprising to hit that so high in the net. I don’t practice free-kicks that often.”
