Chelsea striker Loic Remy believes that Jose Mourinho is still the right man to lead the club and insists they can still claim a top-four finish this season.

The Blues’ season continued to stutter on Tuesday night as they were knocked out of the Capital One Cup on penalties to Stoke City.

Chelsea, who won the Premier League at a canter last term, have failed to keep that momentum going through into 2015-16.

The Stamford Bridge outfit have lost five of their opening 10 league games in contrast to last season which saw them defeated on just three occasions.

Mourinho has been under ever growing pressure with every poor result and has also come under criticism for his behaviour.

The Portuguese refused to speak to the media following Saturday’s defeat to West Ham, while he faces an FA charge having been sent off by referee Jon Moss at half time.

Despite the ongoing speculation over Mourinho’s future Remy feels he is still the correct man to be at the helm and feels they can still achieve a top-four finish if they get back on track soon.

Remy said: “It’s important for him to stay and we don’t want to give up.

“We were champions together only last season and he is a really great manager. Of course I don’t want him to leave. I think all the players don’t want that.

“We can still be in the top four of the league if we win games.”

Chelsea are priced at 2.10 to claim victory when they take on Liverpool who can be backed at 3.75 in Saturday’s meeting in west London, while the draw is available at 3.30.
