Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has admitted he wants to try and emulate Leicester’s team spirit from last season as he tries to help the club challenge for silverware this year.

The Foxes shocked the world of football during the last campaign when they powered to the Premier League title, while Chelsea struggled after a poor start under former boss Jose Mourinho.

The Blues failed to qualify for Europe but now Conte is determined to improve their fortunes after joining the Blues in the summer.

He helped Italy silence their doubters at the recent European Championships and now the 47-year-old is looking to copy Leicester’s team spirit. Speaking ahead of the new campaign, Conte said: “It’s a fantastic example.

And I think that a great club must always look to the last season for what happened. Because a team, a great team, who win the league, became a great team, Leicester.

“Ranieri did a fantastic job and the players did a fantastic job, because they created the right spirit.

And when you watch Leicester’s games you understand this great feeling between the players.

“It’s important to have this if you want to win. It’s important to have talented, fantastic players, but it’s important as well to create the right spirit.”

Conte must wait until Monday for his side’s first game of the season against West Ham United.

Chelsea are priced at 1.67 to win, with the draw at 3.80, while the Hammers can be backed at odds of 5.25.
