Swansea loanee Andy King has talked up the importance of Jordan Ayew and backed his team-mate to help the club beat relegation.

The Ghana international has bagged seven Premier League goals this season, having massively improved on last season’s haul of just one in the league.

Ayew recently spent a spell on the sidelines following the straight red card he picked up against Huddersfield on March 10.

Swansea, who are priced at 5.50 to be relegated, welcomed the former Aston Villa man back over the weekend for the home meeting with Everton and he played a key role.

The 26-year-old netted a second-half equaliser to help Swansea to a point, which has left them five clear of the bottom three, with five games left.

He now boasts three goals from his last four outings in all competitions and King feels he will be crucial to ensuring they don’t slip into the relegation zone.

King said: “Jordan’s been brilliant, not just with his goals but also his work-rate and everything else he brings to the team. We were all pleased to see him score in his first game back.

“Hopefully, he can stay fit and keep scoring between now and the end of the season. He has shown he has the quality to do that and his goals have been important for us.”
