Norwich can cause plenty of surprises this season if they continue to show the kind of spirit that led them to victory on Saturday, according to Daniel Farke.
The newly promoted club picked up their first points of the season courtesy of a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Newcastle at Carrow Road. Last week’s curtain-raiser at Liverpool was a baptism of fire and not many would have passed serious judgement on Norwich’s credentials on the back of that 4-1 loss.
They did show signs of their ability on the front foot at Anfield as Teemu Pukki netted but that was nothing in comparison to his performance on Saturday. Pukki was the top scorer in the Championship last season and he isn’t likely to be short on goals this term after bagging a hat-trick to down the Magpies.
Farke was obviously delighted with his leading man but held back special praise for Norwich’s spirit, which he feels will be crucial to ensuring they steer clear of relegation. “Carrow Road was really rocking and there was a buzz around Carrow Road.
It’s a great place to be, in our living room.” Farke told Norwich’s website. “If we can keep this spirit throughout the season then we are capable of creating many surprises throughout the season – and we need to do that because we are the underdog in each and every game.
“If we have that spirit then we can reach something excellent, so a big compliment to our supporters.” Norwich can be backed at 2.15 to suffer relegation from the Premier League this season.
