Norwich City have a baptism of fire on their return to the Premier League, travelling to Anfield to face Liverpool, but coach Daniel Farke is not scared.

The game takes place on a Friday night, August 9, to get the new league season underway and is as tough a start as Canaries fans could have anticipated.

However, Farke, while recognising that Jurgen Klopp’s side are one of the best teams in the world at the present time, says he and the players at Norwich will not be overawed.

He told local media: “We want to play against the best teams. We’ve worked extremely hard for this opportunity to be competitive against the top teams in the country and we will be greedy to bring our football on to the pitch.

“We worked so hard in the recent months and played over 50 games last season. We don’t want to just enjoy the moments against the top teams, we want to reward our supporters with good football and good results. We are focused on the job.”

The Canaries are back in the Premier League after three seasons in the Championship and went up in style, winning the title with 94 points.

City follow up the trip to Anfield with their first home game back in the top flight when Newcastle United are the visitors to Carrow Road on August 17, while Farke’s side are at home to Chelsea a week later.

Norwich have confirmed pre-season plans which will see the squad have a training camp in Germany before returning to the UK for games against Luton Town and Charlton Athletic.

Liverpool are 1.13 to start off with a win, with Norwich 21.00 and the draw 8.00. Norwich are 1.91 to be relegated straight back to the Championship.
