Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri says he is hoping to bring in some fresh faces in the January transfer window.

Ranieri took charge of the Cottagers in November as he replaced the axed Slavisa Jokanovic and the winter window is his first opportunity to land his own targets.

The Italian stressed he is happy with his squad but hopes owner Shahid Khan will back him in January. Speaking after Tuesday’s 4-1 loss at Arsenal, Ranieri told Sky Sports: “I think it’s something we have to do, but I will speak with the owner.

“We have to improve, but I am very pleased with my players because they tried to do their best – that is important. If we have the chance to buy some good players – welcome.”

Aboubakar Kamara scored for the Cottagers after coming off the bench at the Emirates. The Frenchman had missed a penalty in the previous game, a 1-0 win over Huddersfield, after arguing over who should take the spot kick with fellow striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Ranieri may have dropped Kamara to the bench for the game at Arsenal but afterwards he insisted the forward remains an “important” player for Fulham and they had now moved on from that incident.

Fulham return to action at the weekend with a trip to Burnley and they are 3.10 to take all three points. A 3-1 success for Ranieri’s men pays out at 29.00 and both teams to score is 1.95.
