Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri insists his side can avoid the Premier League drop after Sunday’s 2-1 loss at home to Tottenham.

The Cottagers took an early lead thanks to a Fernando Llorente own goal but Spurs drew level through Dele Alli early in the second half.

Fulham looked as if they were going to hold on for at least a point but Harry Winks grabbed an injury-time winner for the visitors.

The result leaves the west London outfit in 19th spot and seven points adrift of safety, but Ranieri says his players retain the fight needed to pull clear of danger.

“Unbelievable. Our first half was fantastic,” said the Italian.

“Second half we controlled the match very well in different ways. We gave a gift with the first goal and the second goal is unbelievable.

“We lack experience. Calm, stay calm, keep possession, finish the match. “We are alive, we continue to fight. The team showed fantastic performance. “I can only say well done. But stay smart until the end. A lot of them the first time they play in the Premier League.”

Fulham host Brighton in the next round of Premier League fixtures on Tuesday January 29 and they are 2.20 to claim a win. Brighton are 3.40 and a draw is 3.20.

Spurs remain involved in the title battle and they are nine points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, with Tottenham available at 51.00 to win the Premier League outright.
