Reports claim Sporting Lisbon are set to make a move for Fulham right-back Cyrus Christie during the summer window.

The Portuguese outfit managed to finish third in the Primeira Liga last season and will play in the Europa League in 2019-2020. That should help with recruitment and, according to a report in the Daily Mirror, the Cottagers’ defender is on the radar.

Having come up through the youth ranks of hometown club Coventry City before penning professional terms, the 26-year-old left the West Midlands in 2014 for a three-year stint at Derby Country before switching his allegiance to Middlesbrough in 2017.

However, the man capped 22 times by Republic of Ireland ended up at Craven Cottage in January 2018 and has made 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal for the west Londoners.

Sporting are keen to add depth to their squad for domestic and European challenges and it has been suggested that Christie is open to the idea of a move to Portugal.

With two years left on his present deal, there will be a fee involved but there has been no mention of a possible price tag, however with Scott Parker’s side set to ply their trade in the Championship after relegation, a move away makes sense.

Ambitious Leeds United are 5.00 favourites to win the Championship title but Fulham can be backed at 9.00 to bounce back as champions. Parker’s men kick off their campaign against promoted Barnsley on August 3 and are priced at 2.25 to take all three points with the Tykes on offer at 3.00.
