Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon is targeting a big season for both club and country.

The 32-year-old returned to football last summer, joining the Bhoys after two years without a club due to injury and has since established himself as the Glasgow outfit’s number one.

His form in the Scottish Premiership even saw him return to the international fold and he is now once again a regular in the Scotland squad.

Gordon Strachan’s men are currently looking to qualify for their first major tournament since the 1998 World Cup, sitting third behind Poland and Germany in Euro 2016 Group D.

If the Tartan Army do make it to France next summer, competition for places is sure to be high for what could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of the players.

Gordon admits he has a big year ahead of him and is ready to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals.

“It’s something to strive for, to set myself to try and play in those types of games,” Gordon told reporters. ”But that’s up to myself and my performances and also the team, Celtic and the national team, to try to make those things a reality.

“The European Championship and the Champions League would be a fantastic thing to experience.

”There’s a lot of hard work needed to make that a reality but that’s why I get out of bed every morning, come through here and work as hard as I possibly can.”

Celtic begin their Scottish Premiership campaign on Saturday against Ross County in a game they are 1.18 favourites to win, with the draw at 6.50 and the visitors to Parkhead on offer at 15.00.
