Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has backed Kolo Toure to bounce back, after the defender was at fault for both goals during the Hoops 2-0 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday.
The former Ivory Coast international had put in a number of important challenges during the first-half of the Champions League encounter but was twice caught in possession during the second 45, with the mistakes leading to goals for Lars Stindl and Andre Hahn.
Celtic are now bottom of Group C with just one point from their opening three matches, but Rodgers has backed his centre back to bounce back from his mistakes ahead of Sunday’s League Cup semi-final showdown with Rangers at Hampden Park.
“There will be no-one more disappointed than him,” he said. “He is experienced enough to know to deal with the first one and the second one was unfortunate, the guy has walked away and finished it brilliantly with a toe-poke finish.
“But tonight he will hurt, as will the team, as we all will but we will go again and get ready for the weekend.”
The former Liverpool boss also conceded that Gladbach were the better team during Wednesday night’s encounter, with the two sides set to go head-to-head once again at Borussia-Park on November 1.
“We had some good spells as well but we were beaten by a side who are very good, technically strong, fast, good power in their team and who have quality,” he added.
“So we have no complaints. Sometimes teams are better than us and that is no disrespect to our players, they gave everything.”
Celtic will be hoping to return to winning ways in the League Cup on Sunday and they are available at 1.61 to win the match, while Rangers are priced at 4.75 and the draw is on offer at 4.00.
