Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists the club cannot lose their next game against West Brom as both teams bid to stay in the Premier League.
The Bluebirds showed signs of promise on Saturday as they pushed Liverpool all the way, before losing 6-3, with Luis Suarez once again grabbing the headlines as he scored a hat-trick.
Two goals from Jordan Mutch and a strike from Fraizer Campbell gave Solskjaer something to smile about but his side still sit in a relegation battle.
They remain second bottom in the Premier League table, but will be boosted by results from elsewhere, with no other team in the bottom five winning.
Cardiff travel to West Brom this weekend in a huge clash and Solskjaer admits his team must avoid defeat.
He said: “Liverpool was a bonus game, no-one except ourselves believed we could get anything out of it. But the game against West Brom is not negotiable. It is vital, you can’t lose that one.
“The teams around us are not winning either. I don’t know if it is going to require four more wins (to stay up). I actually think it might be less.
“We’ve got seven games to get four more points than the two teams in front of us and we are definitely running out of time.
“But we’ve had momentum in performances, effort and attitude. We need points, so why not start at West Brom?”
Solskjaer’s side are 4.12 to win at the Hawthorns on Saturday, with the Baggies the clear favourites at 1.75.
