Juventus fullback Andrea Cambiaso is looking forward to making his debut for the Italian national team ahead of their Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and Ukraine.

The Euro 2020 champions are hoping to qualify for the 2024 edition, but they are three points behind Ukraine in Group C. England presently tops the group with 16 points, and they have already secured their participation in Germany.

Their next tie against North Macedonia is, therefore, a must-win if they want any chance of qualification.
Failure to get a win for Italy means they will have to book their spot in next summer’s tournament via the play-offs, which might go either way.

Cambiso, who described his call-up to the senior national team as incredible ahead of their crucial Euro 2024 qualifiers, is looking forward to it.

Speaking from Coverciano via Calciomercato.com, the 23-year-old revealed that coach Luciano Spaletti already told them to live with the pressure when they may not be able to defend the trophy they won in England in 2020.

He added that living with such fear also brings you new energy, and they have to live with it.

Cambiaso is enjoying the best of his season, having broken into Massimiliano Allegri’s first team in Turin after an impressive season on loan with Bologna, where he provided three assists across 32 league games.

He has already scored one goal this term and assisted once in 11 matches.

Cambiaso also revealed that he thought it was a joke when he was told in training camp before the Cagliari match by the team manager Matteo that he had been invited into the national team.

He said he didn’t take the word seriously because he didn’t believe it.

“I mean, I wasn’t hoping for it. Very strong emotion. I immediately called my parents and my brother. It took me a while to realize, they told me to wait until 7 pm, but I couldn’t keep it in…”
