Burnley coach Sean Dyce has admitted that he still wants to add further signings to his squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The Clarets, 1.85 to be relegated, have only signed Johann Berg Gudmundson and Nick Pope from Charlton Athletic this summer.

Dyche has reportedly made bids for Derby’s Jeff Henrick, Brighton’s Dale Stephens and Sheffield Wednesday’s Tom Lees but all three have failed to move to Turf Moor.

The former Watford boss is still eager to add further recruits to his squad but Burnley continued their fine pre-season run with a 3-1 win over Rangers last weekend.

Liverpool’s Jon Flanagan and FC Twente’s Hakim Ziyech have also been linked and Dyche has conceded that he needs to add further quality to his committed group.

He told the Burnley Express: “You’ve seen that we’ve got a group that will give you everything and they’re still learning, there’s still things that we can add.

“They’re a really good group. They’ve taken us a long way over the last three years.

“There’s some new additions, of course, but there’s still a bulk of the players who have been there for the whole journey.

“So it’s about adding that competitive element that gives them another push forward and also, if you can get quality that you feel is better, that’s a given.

“It’s not about necessarily replacing, it’s about adding to the quality to enhance everyone. It makes everyone step forward, it makes everyone push themselves.”
