Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus is just one of many high profile names being linked with a move to Manchester United once the summer transfer merry-go-round is up and running.
It is no secret that David Moyes has put Reus on his shopping list when finally given access to a reported £200million war chest this summer after a disappointing first season in charge following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
However, even the great man himself had to rebuild before turning United’s fortunes around, and with plenty to spend, Moyes should easily have enough to tempt Reus away from Dortmund, for whom the 24-year-old has has been a major attacking midfielder.
His performance against Real Madrid recently so nearly helped knock out the Spaniards, and he is clearly one of the best and most sought-after players in Europe at present. He also completely dominated the midfield during Dortmund’s 3-0 away victory over Bayern Munich last weekend to emphasise the fact.
With a price tag of around £30million, Reus, who has scored 19 goals in 35 games for Dortmund, would command a weekly pay packet of around £200,000, and to offset that, part of the deal could see former Dortmund star Shinji Kagawa return to his old club after failing to impress many at Old Trafford during his brief time there.
Jurgen Klopp is probably resigned to losing Reus eventually, but at least the Bundesliga outfit, who have just reached the German Cup Final and another meeting with arch-rivals Bayern Munich, can expect a fat fee in return.
