New Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke is confident he made the correct decision to join the club last month.

The Belgium international was snapped up after dropping down the pecking order at former club Liverpool under manager Jurgen Klopp.

He made just 14 Premier League starts at Anfield and Palace managed to prise him away for £32million.

Benteke insists he has no regrets about his move down south and his attention is now firmly on helping his new side.

The Eagles, 8.00 to be relegated this season, had a dismal end to the campaign last year but Benteke admits Alan Pardew sold the club to him.

The former Aston Villa star is confident the club’s style will suit his game and he revealed he has enjoyed his first few weeks at Selhurst Park.

He told Sky Sports: “I am very happy to be here and to have the chance to show myself again.

I am really looking forward to the new challenge. “I have been in the Premier League for four years and, without wanting to sound arrogant, have been doing well.

I want to show again what I can do because last year I didn’t have the chance to do it all season.

“I knew the quality of the players here and I knew about the manager. It was an easy decision to take. In terms of style it’s a good fit.

“I spoke with the manager (Pardew) a few times before the Euros, I gave him my word that if he did everything he could, I would do everything I could to come here.”
