Barcelona striker Luis Suarez says he is overjoyed and would be happy to finish his career with the club after putting pen-to-paper on a new contract.

The Catalan giants confirmed the news of Thursday but Suarez didn’t officially sign the contract until Friday as Barcelona tie down one of their key stars.

Suarez has committed to the Nou Camp outfit until the summer of 2021 and admitted it’s a club he would happily end his career with.

The Uruguay international has netted 97 times in 116 for the Blaugrana following his £75million move from Liverpool in 2014.

The former Ajax man has claimed eight trophies, including the Champions League and La Liga during his time in Spain and finished ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo as the Pichichi winner last season.

Barcelona have improved Suarez’s salary while also adding a £200million buy-out clause in the contract as they look to fend off any future interest.

Suarez said: “I am feeling overjoyed about being where I want to be. “I feel very happy. “It was the decision that we all wanted, both the club and me, we have a great relationship.

“Any player would want to end their career at a club where they feel comfortable. We’ll have to see, but I will never lose either my ambition or my enthusiasm.”

Reports claim that Barcelona, who are priced at 2.60 to win La Liga, are also in talks with five-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi over extending his contract as his current deal is set to expire in June 2018.
