Barcelona forward Neymar will miss the majority of the club’s remaining fixtures this season with a foot injury.

The Brazil international has appeared 40 times in all competitions for Barca since joining from Santos last summer and has managed 15 goals.

His season, however, has been cut short after he sustained a metatarsal injury in Wednesday’s Copa del Rey final defeat to Real Madrid.

Barca have now revealed they expect the Samba star to be back in action in around a month’s time, meaning he could be in line to feature in Barcelona’s last La Liga game of the season against current league leaders Atletico Madrid.

Should he not recover by then it will likely raise doubts as to whether he can face Croatia in his country’s opening game of their World Cup finals campaign.

A Barcelona statement read: “Neymar sustained a contusion with caused an edema (a swelling) in the fourth metatarsal in his left foot. He will be sidelined for four weeks.”

The news has little effect on Barca’s chances against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday evening, as the Catalans are as short as 1.31 to defeat the visitors.

Bilbao are 8.53 to earn a victory at the Nou Camp whilst a draw between the sides is priced at 5.28.
