Marc-Andre ter Stegen has pinned his hopes on helping Barcelona clinch a famous treble this season.

Barca are seeking glory in the Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey and have responded well to the critics who said before the season started that their best days were behind them.

The Catalan giants are two points clear of nearest challengers Real Madrid at the top of La Liga after thrashing Cordoba 8-0 at Estadio Nuevo Arcangel, a result that extended their unbeaten run in competitions to 16 games.

Luis Enrique’s side have also kept five clean sheets in a row as they step up their preparations for Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp and the return of their former coach Pep Guardiola.

Barcelona are focused on gaining revenge for their 7-0 semi-final defeat by the Bundesliga champions two years ago and ter Stegen, who moved to Barcelona from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer, said: “We’ve made progress since the beginning of the season. I think we have gradually improved.

“We’re in a good position in the league, we’re in the final of the cup, and it couldn’t get much better than this. It would be nice to keep that going until the end of the season.

“If we take it step by step and stay focused, also in the league, then we have a good chance. That’s our aim, and we hope to reach and build on it.”

Barcelona are 1.72 to beat Bayern on Wednesday while the draw is available at 3.90.
