American striker Folarin Balogun has had a remarkable 2022-23 season, catching the attention of top European clubs and earning a call-up to the USMNT for the Concacaf Nations League.

Despite being an Arsenal player, Balogun’s path to the first team under Mikel Arteta appears challenging, prompting speculation about a potential sale. English media, including the Mirror, suggest that Arsenal is considering capitalizing on Balogun’s significantly increased value following his impressive goal-scoring performances in Ligue 1 with Stade Reims.

AC Milan and Napoli, two prominent Italian clubs, have expressed their interest in acquiring Balogun’s services. Napoli, in particular, views the American striker as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen, who is expected to depart after guiding the team to the Serie A Scudetto.

According to the Mirror, Napoli has prioritized the signing of Balogun and may use the proceeds from Osimhen’s multi-million euro sale and potential additional player sales to meet Arsenal’s reported asking price of €30 million.

Balogun has held discussions with Arsenal’s board to determine his future. While the details of the negotiations remain undisclosed, it is evident that the young talent seeks a move to a club where he can secure regular playing time week in and week out. According to Sky Sports, he isn’t interested in going out on loan again, ‘He wants a start at a club where he can make his name and get a stable kind of career path ahead of him. Hence, why he’s thinking the permanent move might be the way to go.’

Folarin Balogun has put up good numbers with Stade Reims, a team with which he has played 36 games, scored 20 goals, and distributed three assists.
