Roma boss Rudi Garcia has urged his squad to end an impressive season on a high when they take on Genoa in the final game on Sunday.

The Giallorossi know that they will finish runners-up in Serie A this term even if they lose on their trip to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris but Garcia believes that with the pressure off, his 1.76 match favourites should be able to put in a dominant performance against Genoa, who are priced at 4.36 to pick up the win with the draw at 3.67.

Roma fell to a 1-0 defeat against champions Juventus last weekend and Garcia is eager to see his troops bounce back.

The loss in Rome was their first taste of defeat at home in the league this season and left them trailing the league leaders by 14 points but secure in the knowledge that they will be involved in the Champions League next term.

“It’s a pity that we lost against Juve,” Garcia said.

“But that defeat doesn’t overshadow what has been a fantastic campaign for us.

“We hope to have a starring role next season and hopefully win a trophy.

“We now travel to Genoa determined to end the season on a high note.”

The former Lille boss has been boosted by the news that midfielder Miralem Pjanic has signed a contract extension with the club and hopes that it signals the capital outfit is now on the right track to keep their star players as they look to challenge for the title next year.

He added: “Pjanic is an important player for us and we are delighted he will be with us in the future.

“We need to keep our talents and we will work on trying to strengthen our squad this summer.”
