Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil insists that contract talks with the club will resume after initial negotiations earlier this summer.

The Germany international signed a five-year deal with Arsenal back in 2013, after signing from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

He has scored 16 goals in 85 appearances for the club and the 27-year-old enjoyed another solid campaign last season after providing a number of assists.

Ozil ended the campaign by helping Germany reach the semi-finals of Euro 2016 and the Gunners opened talks about a new deal before he went on holiday.

The former Schalke and Werder Bremen star was allowed more time off after a busy summer but he is now ready to sit down and resume talks with the club.

He told German publication Express: “I have a contract until 2018. We have had discussions, but they were suspended for the European Championship.

“I wanted to focus at this time only on the national team. Now we look to continue the negotiations.”

Ozil has also admitted that a stint in the MLS later in his career is also a possibility due to his love for the city of Los Angeles.

He added: “In football, you can never say never. You don’t know what will happen. I had a good time in Germany. That was a lot of fun. “Eventually [moving to MLS] could be an option.

I have fun everywhere. My fans know that I like to spend my vacation in Los Angeles, because the city inspires me.”

Ozil will be hoping to finally win the Premier League title this year with Arsenal and they can be backed to lift the trophy at odds of 11.00.
