Anthony Stokes is adamant Blackburn have enough quality to avoid relegation this season but admits the team must cut out silly errors.

Rovers have endured a disappointing start to their Championship campaign under new manager Owen Coyle, winning just two of their opening 11 matches.

Conceding goals has been the big problem and the 20 shipped already is the third-highest tally in the division behind only Nottingham Forest (22) and Rotherham (25).

It has been a struggle up front as well, with Rovers having scored just 12 times, and it is no surprise to see the side currently occupying the final relegation spot.

Stokes, who arrived at Ewood Park this summer on a three-year contract, is back to full fitness and his return could provide the boost needed in the final third.

The 28-year-old has bagged one strike in five league outings while he recorded a brace in the 3-1 League Cup win over Mansfield Town.

The former Celtic man is feeling bullish about Rovers’ chances of staying up and believes the team can start to pull away from trouble over the coming weeks.

Stokes said: “It’s just the small margins. We’re working hard in the background and if we can keep doing that, and we all stick together, then we’ll be fine.”

Blackburn return to action on Saturday when they host Ipswich Town, who are on a four-game winless run and are just five points above the drop zone.

The home side are narrow 2.50 favourites to clinch all three points, the draw is priced at 3.10 while the visitors are 3.00 to pick up the win.
