Alex Song believes he made the right choice in joining West Ham United on loan this season as they will become one of the best teams in England “in the next five years”.

The Cameroon midfielder moved to the Hammers on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona in August and settled instantly back into the Premier League.

West Ham have won four of the five games Song has started – the only slip up being a narrow defeat at Manchester United last month – and he played a starring role in Saturday’s shock 2-1 win over Manchester City.

The run has lifted Sam Allardyce’s side up to fourth in the table and, while many will predict a downfall in the coming months, Song has high hopes for the east London club.

“The future of the club is very good,” he said. “That’s why I chose to come here. In Spain nobody was expecting anything from Atletico Madrid and look at how well they are doing.

“You have to look at examples like that. The way that West Ham are looking now, in the next five years they will be one of the best clubs in England.

“When I see the way that we play and where we are at the moment I know that I made a very good choice.”

West Ham have picked up three straight wins in the Premier League and are priced at 3.22 to continue that run away at Stoke City on Saturday. Stoke are 2.21 to win at the Britannia Stadium while a draw is 3.26.
