Just a few short weeks ago, Alan Pardew looked destined to become the next Premier League manager to lose his job.

Now the Newcastle boss is talking of partying with the fans after watching his side defeat Liverpool to make it four wins in a row.

Substitute Ayoze Perez scored the only goal as the home side built on the momentum of their midweek Capital One Cup victory at Manchester City.

Pardew admitted to the pressures of managing in a fanatical city as he approaches four years in the Newcastle hot seat.

“Our fans are brilliant. It will be fantastic in the town tonight – I might even go in myself, the first time for a while,” he declared.

“That is what this city is about. It breathes and loves football. When it does not go well, they let you know, and when it is going well, they let you know.”

With his squad in resurgent mood, Pardew will be relishing the Super Sunday trip to West Brom in a week’s time, where Newcastle are 2.82 to continue their winning run.

After that, QPR are the visitors to St James Park as Newcastle seek to continue their climb up the Premier League table.
In the wake of the Liverpool win, Pardew once more hailed the togetherness and determination that exists within the current crop of players.

Even during their darkest moments, Pardew retained the belief his squad had the talent to turn things around, something they are now proving to be correct.
