Adam Lallana says Liverpool’s dramatic 3-2 win over Tottenham has made his side feel they can still finish third in the Premier League this season.

The England international came off the bench to cross for Mario Balotelli’s late winner, the Italian in the process proving some of his doubters wrong by scoring his first league goal since arriving at Anfield in the summer.

After a sluggish start as boss Brendan Rodgers did his best to integrate a number of new faces into his squad, the Reds now seem to be building momentum with Tuesday’s victory making it nine games without defeat in the league.

The run has seen them rise to seventh in the standings, three points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal, and they have some brief respite at the weekend, as they take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup, a competition they are currently 5.50 to win.

Lallana thinks Liverpool’s form means they can do even better than simply claim a Champions League finish and says the squad now believe they can make a genuine push for third spot.

“That’s a massive three points for us,” he said after Tuesday’s game. “We’re only one point behind Tottenham now and we have got everything to play for.

“We can go higher than fourth, we can hit third place. We’ve got Daniel Sturridge back now and it was great for him to get through 70 minutes.”

It promises to be a busy few weeks for the Reds who resume their Europa League campaign next Thursday against Besiktas and they’re 1.61 to win the opening leg of the last-32 tie, with the draw 3.60 and the Turkish outfit 5.52 for victory.
