Three-weight world champion Jorge Linares insists he will not be fazed by Anthony Crolla’s fans when the pair meet in Manchester later this month.

Crolla will aim to defend his WBA lightweight world title against Linares at the MEN Arena on September 24.

The Manchester fighter overcame a fractured skull in 2015 to beat Darleys Perez to win the title before defending it with a KO win over Ismael Barroso.

He will now try to win Linares’ WBC title but the Venezuelan has proved his class in the UK in the past.

Linares ended Kevin Mitchell’s career last year and he admits that fighting away from home gives him extra motivation.

The former featherweight and super-featherweight world champion told Sky Sports: “I love fighting in my opponent’s back yard with all the noise that comes with it from their fans.

The supporters cannot get in the ring with their fighter, it’s just me and him. “When I first started to fight all over the world it took some time to adjust but now, it’s easy and I am confident doing it.

“The fans are excited for this one. We’re both world-class fighters and world champions that are willing to fight each other, as we’re proving in this one.

There’s no need to trash talk or build the fight up, it’s a great fight and there’s lots of respect between us.

“The best fighter on the night is going to win, and I think that’s going to be me.” Crolla is the 1.53 favourite for the fight, with the draw at 23.00, while Linares is priced at 2.60 with Dafabet.
