Tottenham Hotspur have shown they see a bright future for midfielder Ryan Mason after handing the playmaker a five-and-a-half year deal at White Hart Lane.
Following loan spells in the lower leagues at the likes of Millwall, Swindon Town, Doncaster Rovers and Yeovil, Mason has now found himself in the first-team frame under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
With 18 appearances for Spurs this season, Mason has been an important figure in a side which currently sits in sixth place in the Premier League table with just three points between themselves and the top four.
The 23-year-old has revealed his delight at getting a new deal and is now looking to keep proving himself as a player with the north London outfit.
He said: “I’m buzzing about it. I’m delighted and I can’t wait to crack on now.
“I appreciate the length of the contract shows a lot of faith in me and hopefully I can keep progressing and stay at the club longer than the contract.”
Mason bagged his first senior goal in the Capital One Cup against Championship side Nottingham Forest in September and has enjoyed a swift rise.
Having penned his new long-term deal, Mason is likely to feature in their next Premier League game at The Hawthorns against West Brom on January 31, with Spurs 2.42 to continue their push for a top-four finish this season.
